Former Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton believes that a ground share with Everton should be "seriously considered".
Fenway Sports Group, previously New England Sports Ventures, have so far refused to commit to any plans over the future home of the Reds until they have conducted a thorough case study of the benefits of either a new stadium or a redeveloped Anfield.
Tom Werner insists that the group are fully aware of what he described as "strong feelings" over the prospect of Liverpool sharing with the local rivals but his predecessor maintains that the idea, mooted by club legend Kenny Dalglish earlier this year, should be looked into.
"If (a new stadium) is not possible, then in my personal opinion, groundsharing should be seriously considered," said Broughton.
"Fans are understandably emotional about this issue, but this has to be addressed.
"It's not the case of being red or blue. You can be red one week, and blue the next.
"It's up to people like Kenny Dalglish to communicate the business sense of all this.
