Ranieri: Adriano will stay

Roma coach Claudio Ranieri insists Adriano will remain at the club despite speculation linking the Brazilian striker with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico in January.

The former Inter Milan man returned to Serie A at the start of the season after joining Roma on a free transfer from Flamengo but has struggled to make an impact. "Some players will leave in January but Adriano will remain at Roma," said Ranieri at a press conference today. Adriano

has made just four league appearances this season for I Giallorossi but Ranieri believes the South American will get more playing time once Serie A resumes next month.

"In order to compete on three fronts (Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League), we will need to use all of our players on our roster," said Ranieri. "All the players have to accept this situation which should be an added weapon for us instead of a problem." Adriano,

28, has been linked with Brazilian sides Santos and Corinthians in recent weeks.
