Sir Alex Ferguson has set Dimitar Berbatov a 25-goal target in the hope that the Bulgarian will guide Manchester United to the Premier League title.
It would be an historic year for the club if they manage to win the league title, as it they would finally surpass Liverpool in the number of league titles won.
The 29-year-old has scored 13 goals this campaign, and now the Scot hopes his record signing from Tottenham is only half way through his tally.
However, the boss insists that the forward may not necessarily start every game, alluding to the match against Arsenal when he left him out despite having scored five goals in the previous game.
"There are certain games when we like to play one up front and three central midfield players, Dimitar understands that," Ferguson told reporters.
"But his form has been terrific. He is on 13 goals now. If he can get us to 25, we need one more to get around that figure, then we will have a good chance [of winning the Premier League]."
Berbatov's team-mate Patrice Evra revealed that he keeps the forward on his toes during training, as he said: "I keep moaning at him when he doesn't score in training.
"But he always says 'don't worry, I will score in the game'. He showed me that.
"He is working hard. He is a good guy and is different class."
