Days after scoring his 300th career goal, Martin Palermo affirmed that the next campaign with Boca Juniors will be his final one.
Boca Juniors hitman Martin Palermo confirmed that his plan is to retire in June 2011, meaning that the upcoming Clausura campaign will be the last of the goalscoring legend's career.
The 37-year-old had been widely expected to call it a day in the next year, with reports emerging over the winter break that the upcoming seasons would be his last. 'San Martin', who on Monday scored the 300th goal of his career against Gimnasia, affirmed last night he was not planning to play on longer than the Clausura.
"I have already talked about it in depth with my psychologist. When the date gets closer it may become more difficult," Palermo admitted at a club press conference, although he couldn't resist leaving the door open to continue.
"In my career strange and extraordinary things have always happened."
