"Ibra up there with Messi, Ronaldo"

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Arrigo Sacchi has hailed Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the best in the world along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The former AC Milan coach's comments will further add fuel to the debate that rages over who is currently the best player in the world.

While Messi is undoubtedly the most popular choice, Real and Ronaldo fans point to the Portuguese's versatility as the factor which gives him the edge over the Barca superstar.

Now Sacchi has thrown Ibrahimovic's name into the hat. The Swede has scored nine goals in 16 games since his move to the Rossoneri in the summer and is one the reasons why Massimiliano Allegri's men occupy top spot in Serie A.

Speaking to Don Balon, Sacchi said:"Ibrahimovic's experience with Barcelona has helped him a lot.

"Now he plays for the team. He is the best player in the world at the moment along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo."

Having said that, Sacchi had special words of praise for the La Liga champions as well.

"Barca are an extraordinary team, an advert for football, a little like my Milan," he said.

"Like us in that period [1987-1991], this Barcelona always play the same way at home or away. They always keep the play in their hands."

La Liga returns to action on Sunday after their winter break and Barcelona host Levante while second-placed Real Madrid travel to Getafe.
